Teaching

What better way to learn about the Canton Trade System than to transcribe an early 19th-century document about shipping opium, cochineal, porcelain, and quicksilver? That's what these students did in my World History II course.

My teaching philosophy encompasses experiential or hands-on learning, advocacy for the museum field and cultural heritage, career development, and inclusivity and accessibility.

There is a lot of overlap with teaching in the classroom and interpreting history for the public at museums and historic sites. My experiences in the classroom and at museums inform my work with both.
