Teaching

This is a photograph of me standing an gesturing with my right hand. There is a student (face obscured) standing behind me. I am in front of a large metal shelf that contains gray archival boxes.
In History Behind the Scenes, my students and I visited the Air Mobility Command Museum in Dover, DE. Here were are learning about collections management. Photo courtesy Meg Hutchins.

There is a lot of overlap with teaching in the classroom and interpreting history for the public at museums and historic sites. My experiences in the classroom and at museums inform my work with both. My teaching philosophy encompasses experiential or hands-on learning, advocacy for the museum field and cultural heritage, career development, and inclusivity and accessibility. I am dedicated to helping everyone interested in history link history practice, outreach, and learning in inclusive and accessible settings and have broad experience teaching and mentoring undergraduates and adult learners.
